McDonald's burgers and fries don't decompose

The reason for the lack of change in the year-old McDonald's Happy Meal is the number of preservatives in the food.  Preservative calcium propionateis what keeps the food looking the same...even after a year. Check out the photos below.

  3. Chaudie, it is being digested since our stomach has digesting chemicals and is being helped by Lactobacillus. Furthermore, we do eat it. Hence, our teeth grinds it.

  7. What happens here is mostly that the stuff dries, too dry then not even mould will want to grow. Most loaves would have mould after one year though!
Like you said, food does not disintegrate, it has to be digested in your stomach, by microorganisms and other living organisms in a compost or in the ground, but even then it does take some time!
