Robert Sand owes over 1 million dollars in child support

A New York man considered to be America's most wanted deadbeat parent pleaded guilty Thursday to owing more than $1.2 million to three children from two failed marriages,

Robert Sand, 50, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Long Island to two counts of failing to pay child support as far back as the 1990s, The Christian Science Monitor reported.

To avoid making payments, Sand fled the country after warrants for his arrest were issued in 2000 and 2002. He told the judge he fled to Florida and then to Thailand, where he worked a series of odd jobs. He then flew to the Philippines, where he was arrested and then deported for lacking proper identification.

Woman Finds Dead Rat Inside Can of Diet Pepsi

A dead rat (or mouse) has been found inside a Diet Pepsi can! The Florida couple's disgusting discovery in a can of soda has now led to an investigation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Pepsi claims that something crawled inside the can and died while it was open but the couple is not buying it. This "lucky" couple may have taken a quick slurp to the diet Pepsi, but thanks to this can, I am pretty sure this Florida couple will become millionaires --- they are suing Pepsi!

According to the Florida couple, here's how it happened. Amy Denegri and her husband Fred were having a barbecue at their home when her husband noticed something tasted funny when he took a gulp of his Diet Pepsi. Amy told a local news program, "He made a face. I was sitting there and he said it tasted awful and something wasn't right.”

Oscar the cat has predicted 50 deaths

Over the last five years, records have shown that a CAT has predicted 50 DEATHS. His name is Oscar, he lives at the New England nursing home. He was adopted as a kitten at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island, which specializes in caring for people with severe dementia.

Dr David Dosa, a geriatrician and assistant professor at Brown University, said that sometimes Oscar proves the medical staff wrong in their predictions over which patients were close to death. Dr Dosa first publicized Oscar's gift in an article in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2007, however since that time, he has “predicted” double the amount of deaths that are about to happen. Because of the way the cat behaves around the about to die patient, he has convinced the geriatrician that it isn't a coincidence.

Oscar is a tortoiseshell and White cat; it normally spends its time wandering around rooms and only seems to spend time with the patients who have only a few hours to live. If Oscar is outside of the room with the dying patient in, he scratches the door to try and get in.

The world's oldest CONDOM

The oldest surviving condom in the world has gone on display in an Austrian museum. The reusable condom dates back to 1640 and is completely intact, as is its original users' manual, written in Latin.

The manual suggests that users immerse the condom in warm milk prior to its use to avoid diseases.

CONDOM HISTORY:

In 16th century Italy, Gabriele Falloppio authored the first-known published description of condom use for disease prevention. He recommended soaking cloth sheaths in a chemical solution and allowing them to dry prior to use.

The oldest condoms found are from 1640, discovered in Dudley Castle in England. They were made of animal intestine, and it is believed they were used for STD prevention.

In 19th century Japan, both leather condoms and condoms made of tortoise shells or horns were available.

The rubber vulcanization process was patented by Charles Goodyear in 1844, and the first rubber condom was produced in 1855. These early rubber condoms were 1-2mm thick and had seams down the sides. Although they were reusable, these early rubber condoms were also expensive.

Real-Life Vampire

In a chilling case report, doctors in Turkey have described what they claim to be a real-life vampire with multiple personalities and an addiction to drinking blood.
The 23-year-old married man apparently started out slicing his own arms, chest and belly with razor blades, letting the blood drip into a cup so he could drink it. But when he experienced compulsions to drink blood "as urgent as breathing," he started turning to other sources, the doctors said.
The man, whose name and hometown were not revealed in the report, was arrested several times after stabbing and biting others to collect and drink their blood. He apparently even got his father to get him bags of the ghastly drink from blood banks, according to the report released today (Feb. 8) by the Journal of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics. The case study was published last fall.

Frozen for 500 years

A 500-year-old frozen Incan mummy known as 'The Maiden' was suffering from a bacterial infection when she died - and being able to 'diagnose' the disease could lead to new insights into diseases of the past.

The mummy was suffering from an illness similar to tuberculosis when she was sacrificed on thArgentinian volcano Llullaillaco, 22,100 feet above sea level.

Scientist discover a 2,000 year old brain

Archaeologists believe they have discovered one of the world's oldest brains that once belonged to a man in Iron Age Britain who was sacrificed in a ritual killing.
Scientists found the cranium in a muddy pit when they were excavating a site before a new campus was to be built at the University of York. When a researcher reached inside the skull, she was stunned to discover the soft tissue of the 2,500-year-old brain still preserved.
Fractures and marks on the bones suggest the man, who was aged between 26 and 45, died most probably from hanging, after which he was carefully decapitated and his head was then buried on its own.

This woman gave birth to a 50 year old mummy baby

A Lithopedion is better known as a stone baby, is actually a calcified mass, which used to be a live foetus. Although this condition is extremely rare and odd, it does happen. In 1955 a 26 year old woman named Zahra Aboutalib was rushed to the hospital to deliver her baby.
Sadly,  after an excruciating 48 hour labor, she still could not deliver the baby, hence  the doctors decided that she should to undergo a caesarean section. The thought of dieing in child labor terrified the woman and urged her to flee the hospital and go back to the comfort of her home.
After doing so, she gave birth nearly 50 years later to a mummy baby.

The Floating Movie Theater

Ole Scheeren, a German architect based out of Beijing, China designed a floating movie theater to give viewers a truly unique experience while watching films. By using local lobster fisherman rafts with tires, Scheeren created a floating screen and a separate platform for the audience to sit back, relax and enjoy the show. The screen was placed in front of two beautiful rocks in the archipelago in the Bay of Bengal for a film festival called “Film on the Rocks Yao Noi.” After the film festival concluded, the rafts were given back to the fisherman and life as usual went on in the small villages of the region. It may be brought back for next year’s festival.

Russell from Disney's " UP " was actually modeled after a real person

The boy hero of Disney/Pixar's new animation "Up," which raked US$68 million in the first week since its U.S. release, is modeled after a Korean employee in the Pixar Studios. The little boy Russell is modeled after Peter Sohn, a 32-year-old ethnic Korean production artist who has been working with Pixar since 2000.

Sohn also made his debut as a short film director with four-minute animation "Partly Cloudy," which was released along with "Up."

At the premiere of "Up" at the Pixar Studio in California recently, Sohn said, "The atmosphere here at work is like playing. We draw each other's faces in meetings, and Russell's face was actually my face that someone had drawn. We decided to make the main character of the new film Asian, and naturally I became the model," Sohn said.

"Up" is a story of the big adventure of an old man and a school kid. It was the opening film of the Cannes Film Festival last month, and will be released in Korea at the end of July.

Modeling for a huge animation hit is not as big a deal to this graduate of California Institute of Arts as making his directorial debut. Sohn wanted to be an animation director since early childhood. "My parents ran a grocery store when I was young, and my mother would take me to the cinema every Fridays. She wasn't fluent in English, so she would always ask me, 'What are they saying?' But she had no problem understanding Disney animations. It was then that I decided to make animation films when I grew up."
